The U.S.
Coast Guard Auxiliary, an incorporated civilian organization, is comprised of over 35,000 hard-working volunteers who are
highly dedicated to promoting safer, recreational boating on the waters of the United States of America.
These
honourable men and women undergo special training so that they are able to efficiently assist and augment
the United States Coast Guard in their non-military, non-law enforcement
programs and missions consisting of: boating education, environmental protection, vessel examinations, safety patrols, search and rescue,
and aids to navigation - knowledge and skills which can last a lifetime.
Flotilla 5-25 is based at the Winter Hill Yacht Club located along the bank of the Mystic River in historic Somerville, Massachusetts. The flotilla welcomes new members and provides necessary training
which opens a world of new opportunities to boating enthusiasts and those who are curious.
In order to join the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, you must be: 17 years of age
or older, and a citizen of the United States of America. Private ownership of a vessel, a
radio station (amateur or marine band VHF sets), or an aircraft is desirable, but not mandatory in any way.
There are other requirements, but they are not extraordinary.

Please attend the meeting if you can.
NOTE: Unless noted otherwise, Flotilla 5-25 meets at the Winter Hill Yacht Club in
Somerville, MA (behind Assembly Square Mall) on the second Thursday of each
month (excluding summer months) at 1930 Hrs (7:30 PM).
Mystic River
Everett, Massachusetts
The Mystic River flows from the Lower Mystic Lake, and travels through the Boston,
Massachusetts area communities of Arlington, Medford, Somerville, Everett, Charlestown,
Chelsea, and East Boston. The river joins the Charles River to form inner Boston Harbor.
Its watershed contains 44 lakes and ponds, the largest of which is Spot Pond in the
Middlesex Fells, with an area of 307 acres.
